Her untimely death splintered her rise in popularity, and like many times when a glowing, charming star dies far too young caused many to grieve every potential that was not fully realized. In the following years, fans were inspired to work even harder to make sure that Selena's accomplishments would not go unnoticed. Selena was the Tejano performer who tragically killed in a shooting accident, sparked a Latino reaction that can be likened to the reaction to Elvis Presley's and John Lennon's deaths. The most well-known Latino musician across North America, Selena's music has influenced many people across different cultures. Selena was a sexy, flamboyant performer on stage and was often referred to by her as the Latina Madonna.
