April Ross
April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball players who have won medals at several Olympics. Alix klineman, who is competing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics and will attempt to win her third Olympic medal. Ross is determined to earn more than her initial Olympic medal. Since she's 39 years old and has a long way to go, this could be her last chance. She remains optimistic that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross was reported on NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your top, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her father, mother and younger sister. In addition to playing in numerous sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school, she competed in indoor volleyball along with basketball and track. She was clearly the best in the game of indoor volleyball. Through her high school years, she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court, according to her bio at the college. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017, but Ross's beach game was established well before the year. Actually Ross has won a number of important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One of them is a volleyball legend. In the period 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was a force on the international stage, claiming an international title in 2009. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). As fate would have it Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross started her college career with the USC Trojans after graduation from high school. It was a long time before Ross made her debut on the beach and became a professional. Her experience at USC was impressive. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year when she was a teen freshman. She was also one of the key players in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. In her sophomore season she suffered a devastating personal loss and still earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her last two seasons as a member of the Trojans team the team was led to victories by winning consecutive national championships. She was a fantastic player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to witness Ross achieve beach volleyball's top levels. When Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother died of breast cancer. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and dear. Also, Margie is an ongoing source of inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
